Anyone who travels knows that the world is a beautiful place, but very few of us are able to fully appreciate the destinations earth offers us.
There are natural and manmade locations that simply captivate us with their striking beauty and leave memories that last a lifetime.
We’ve narrowed down to twelve a list of locations that are the most beautiful sights in the world. It was certainly no easy task. The locations that made this list are not just stunningly beautiful but a breathlessly unique.

Amalfi Coast – Italy
This wold and wonderful stretch of Italian coastline runs form Sorrento at the northern end to Vietri Sul Mar to the south.
The vistas along this coastline are mesmerizing. Sheer cliffs plunging into the sea and disappearing into grottos are found around every bend. Furthermore, each town you encounter along the coast has its own unique personality and beauty. Positano is often a favorite because it’s considered by many to be the most picturesque of villages along the Amalfi Coast.
Bora Bora – French Polynesia
The South Pacific is known for its natural beauty, but the islands that make up Bora Bora are in a league of their own. This volcanic tropical paradise boasts interior lagoons and some of the most magical tourmaline waters in world.
Bora Bora is proud of its reef ecosystem and protected sanctuary. Yes, the overwater bungalows are manmade, but they’;re a call to anyone who wants to experience a true island paradise.
Fiordland National Park – New Zealand
This amazing national park is made up of nearly 3 million acres of scenic mountains, alpine lakes, fjords, and rainforests.It’s also home to a flourishing wildlife population due to very little human interference.
This place is an example of the beauty of nature and shows what places can be like when an area is virtually undisturbed.
Grand Canyon – USA
Over 6 million people per year visit the Grand Canyon. It’s not just because it’s a big hole in the ground. it’s because the layers of rock look as if they’ve been painted by nature. However, the immense size will leave you speechless, and it’s impossible to write just how tiny you’ll feel. We can give you the numbers though, it’s 277 miles, or 446km long and 1 mile, or 1.6km deep.
It’s among one of the earth’s most amazing geological spectacles and offers some of the best vistas imaginable.
Iguazu Falls – Argentina/Brazil
The world is full of stunning waterfalls, and many of us are familiar with most popular waterfalls such as Victoria Falls or Niagara Falls.
What’s so impressive about Iguazu Falls? It’s made up of 275 individual waterfalls and is one of the largest cataracts in the world. In 2011 Iguazu Falls was the only waterfall to be voted into the New Seven Wonders of Nature.
Interspersed among the walls of falling water are rivulets and delicate cascades set amongst lush tropical forest. Also, here, spectacular rainbows are routine.
Machu Picchu – Peru
No matter how many photos you see of Machu Picchu, there’s nothing like experiencing it in person. It’s an astonishing ethereal city in the clouds.
Archaeologists believe this city in the Andes Mountains was constructed in the mid-1400s. Among the rolling hills numerous residences, palaces, were constructed with expert craftsmanship.
Today Machu Picchu is one South America’s most cherished archaeological sites, but is an UNESCO World Heritage Site visited by millions every year.
Moraine Lake – Canada
Moraine Lake is a beautiful glacially fed lake in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. It’s less famous than it’s sister Lake Louise, but still has incredible aquamarine waters with multiple hues.
The view of the mountains behind the lake in Valley of the Ten Peaks is known as the Twenty Dollar View, and it’s stunning by itself let alone paired with the reflection on the lake’s surface. For a truly serene travel memory, go out on the lake for some canoeing or kayaking.
Na Pali Coastline – USA
The Na Pali coastline is found on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, and island known as one of the world’s most breathtaking islands. It’s earned that reputation because 97% of the island is undeveloped and remains lush tropical rainforest.
The Na Pali coast has soaring velvety green mountains and was the perfect location for the filming of Jurassic Park.
The preferred way of viewing the coast is by helicopter for a bird’s eye view of the peaks and accordion-like folded cliffs. However, Hiking the Na Pali coast can be unforgettable too. Pathways can be slippery when wet,. but the views are spectacularly unforgettable.
Neuschwanstein – Germany
it looks like a fairy tale castle, but the one above the village of Hohenschwangau in southwest Bavaria, Germany is the real deal. In fact, it was the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s castle at Disneyland.
Walking to the castle itself can be a treat because the imposing Neo-gothic palace is surrounded by lush forested slopes and soaring mountains. It’s unforgettable.
Plitvica Lakes National Park – Croatia
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is located in central Croatia and covers 114 square miles, or about 72,960 acres. The protected reserve features 16 natural crystal clear lakes of turquoise water. There are also several waterfalls that are constantly changing the tufa rocks over which they flow.
A network of boardwalks and paths around the lakes make it easy to explore this natural wonderland. The national park is filled with lush woodland and an abundance of wildlife. The area is home to brown bears, wild cats, eagles and more, as well as 75 endemic plant species.
Temples of Bagan – Myanmar
Over 3,500 Buddhist pagodas and temples dating as far back as the 9th century form the ancient city of Bagan in Myanmar.
Scholars believe that Bagan rulers constructed over 13,000 religious buildings during a span of about 250 years. In 2019 UNESCO officially named Myanmar’s Baan Temples a World Heritage Site. Many of its temples have been destroyed over the centuries by earthquakes, the preservation of the structures is ongoing.
Torres Del Paine National Park – Chile
This amazing national park is located at the southernmost end of Chile. The area also serves as one of eleven areas protecting the nature of Patagonia. The dirverse ecosystem includes grasslands, lakes, rivers, glaciers, and mountains.
The area is home to beautiful scenery along with pumas, guanacos, and wild horses. Torres Del Paine National Park is nature at its finest.
