Earlier this week AirBnB turned its temporary ban on parties into a permanent ban along with the outlawing of party houses. AirBnB stated that “disruptive parties and events” are now permanently banned following a 2 year temporary ban.
Initially the ban on party houses was instituted in 2019 following the deaths of five people at a party shooting. Then the ban was extended globally due to the pandemic.
The company said that the ban resulted in na 44% drop in the rate of party reports, so the company concluded, “The temporary ban has proved effective, and today we are officially codifying the ban as our policy.”
Guests who violate the ban face the possible consequences of account suspension to being fully removed from the platform. Last year AirBnB suspended over 6,600 users for violating the temporary party ban.
The travel landscape has significantly changed and last year AirBnB responded with different innovations and adding upgrades for both guests and hosts. The company made it easier to book anywhere and for guests to find the exact property being sought after by adding new ways to search and explore through “I’m Flexible.”
