EmQuartier – A Bangkok Luxury Shopping Landmark

EmDistrict is on Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Road and is part of an ambitious retail project comprising of three luxury shopping malls around Phrom Phong BTS Station. They are the long standing Emporium, shopping mall, the under-construction EmSphere, and the most recently built and impressive EmQuartier are the shopping malls. Together they make up the EmDistrict.

EmQuartier is one of Bangkok’s most glamorous and visually captivating shopping malls. Visitors to the mall are lured in
by the multi-tiered facade and giant LED screens, rooftop garden, skywalk, and a central atrium with a cascading waterfall. And that’s even if they can’t afford the designer brands featured in the shopping mall.’

EmQuartier Bangkok is a massive 200,000 square meters of retail space housing over 1,000 shops Shopping at EmQuartier clearly leans towards the more luxurious end of the shopping spectrum. Almost immediately upon your first glimpse of the mall, you’ll find boutiques for Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Kate Spade. Jimmy Choo, Off-White, and Balenciaga.

Of course, these aren’t the only brands found here. Head up to the higher levels and you’ll find more affordable brands such as Zara, Uniqlo, H&M, Fred Perry, and some local Thai brands. However, what you will find different about this mall when compared to others in Bangkok, is that the mall incorporates green spaces and water to create a more nature oriented feel, despite being in the center of Bangkok. This is especially evident when you see the floating gardens and the five storey waterfall or when getting an Instagrammable view of the city
from one of the outdoor terraces.

EmQuartier’s Three ZonEs

You’ll find that EmQuartier is split into three zones. They are the Glass Quartier, the Helix Quartier and the Waterfall Quartier. Each zone has its own unique design and personality, but are connected by multiple walkways.

The Glass Quartier features large glass panels and uses soft curves to create a sense of openness. In the Glass Quartier is where you’ll find high end luxury boutiques and designer products.

The Helix Quartier is like a spiraling coil and is where you can find an assortment of fine dining options. At the center,
you’ll find a rainforest chandelier and an outside courtyard with trees, benches and flowing water.

Visit the fifth floor tropical garden for beautiful flowers, lush ferns and an illuminated pond.

The Waterfall Quartier is named for its centerpiece, a 40 meter high waterfall. At the time of construction, It claimed the position as the largest manmade waterfall in Southeast Asia. In here you’ll find the Quartier CineArt, which is one of the bestmovie theaters in Bangkok.

Shopping At Emquartier

If you decide to do some shopping at EmQuartier, you might want to know where to start.

On the ground floor of the Glass Quartier you’ll find brands like Kate Spade and Issey Miyake.

Moving a little higher to the Mezzanine, you’ll find more luxury brands like Prada,, Jimmy Choo, Alexander Wang, Chanel, Balenciaga, and Dolce & Gabbana, among others.

If the previously mentioned brands are out of your price range, the first floor offers stores
such as Zara, H&M and Uniqlo, along with other more affordable brands.

Of course, there’s more to be found here in the mall than just fashion brands. You can find some stores with an eclectic mix of products, art, electronics, and more.

EmQuartier Dining

After a full day of shopping you’ll probably be feeling a little hungry. Walk over to the Helix Quartier where you’ll find a wide range of restaurants and certainly something that appeals to your taste buds. There are over 50 restaurants ranging from Japanese to Mexican food.

But, if you don’t have time for a full meal at one of the many restaurants, you can go down to the Quartier Food Hall in the Glass Quartier Basement for some quick bites or some food to go.

Is EmQuartier for You?

Not everyone comes to Bangkok for its shopping malls but EmQuartier might have something for you. Architecture nerds are encouraged to visit for some impressive design decisions and to see the implementation of innovative concepts.
