Huai Nam Sai Mon Village is a small village of Thai Raman or Mon people, which is located in the middle of a valley in the Suan Phueng District of Ratchaburi Province. It’s a newer eco-tourism attraction where visitors from the city can come to relax amidst nature and the quiet village.

You can feel the cooler air of the valley and listen to the sound of the stream that flows through the village.

If you come to explore the Mon village of Huai Nam Sai, you’ll instantly feel the atmosphere of the houses and the villagers as you’re met with kind smiles and greetings.

From the first gate you’ll notice the scenery that surrounds the village. It consists of tall forests, mountains, and streams.

Highlights of the Huai Nam Sai Mon Village

Within the village, there is, of course, the houses of the villagers who live here. But the highlight that serves as a symbol of this village is the bamboo wall that stretches along the village road. This is where the villagers come to spread their mats and wait in the mornings or activities where food is offered to monks.

You can watch or participate in the offerings on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, starting at 08:00. 

Walking further through the village, you’ll find a street full of shops selling local products such as Mon clothing, or even restaurants and coffee shops.  You can walk and explore the village, and if you get tired, there are some interesting places to rest.

A popular thing for visitors is to write messages and pray for blessings at the Pu Luang Shrine,  which is the sacred shrine of the village.

You can see the visitors’ messages hanging from bamboo rods and the villagers believe the shrine to be sacred, so anyone who comes to make a wish will have the wish come true.

There is another popular shrine here too, and that is the Grandfather Mahasuk Naga Shrine. From the ground it looks like a boat. But if you climb the steps you’ll find a busy shrine shrouded in the smoke of incense.

So, now that you know more about the Hua Nam Sai Mon Village, how do you get there? Simply put, it’s best to drive to Huai Nam Sai Mon Village because public transport is not convenient. 

Visitors can visit the village every day. But to make merit and offer food to monks, visit on the weekend, Friday through Sunday and on public holidays 

The Huai Nam Sai Mon Village is a relaxing environment offering a unique experience, which makes it worth a visit if you’re in the area. However, drive yourself or hire a car with a driver. Trying to reach the village through public transportation will be tough.
