Oktoberfest Returns to Germany Without COVID Restrictions

Germany has announced that its annual Oktoberfest will return this fall following 2 years without the famous beer festival due to coronavirus pandemic restrictions.

The Associated Press reports that Oktoberfest head Clemens Baumgartner hs said that the festival would kickoff on September 17 and run through October 3 in Munich, Germany. Mr. Baumgartner has also said that there would be no COVID restriction in place during the event.

For the 2022 version of the over 200 year old event, organizers are preparing for around nearly 500 breweries, restaurants, fish and meat grills, wine vendors, and other vendors to take over the city.

Oktoberfest will open at 09:00 and close at 22:30 with last orders being taken at 21:30. Prices for a traditional one liter mug of beer will be about $12 to $15, which is about a 15% increase from prices in 2019.

Baumgartner has told AP, “The Wise will take place,” and also, “It will take palce like we know it from 2019, and not in any other way.”

Travelers going to journey for Oktoberfest will be able to tr traditional Bavarian dishes like blood and lover sausage, bread dumplings, pork belly, braised venison, roasted ox, and homemade spatezle pasta.

Pre-pandemic Oktoberfest would see about 6 million visitors each year.

Earlier this year the German National Tourist Office announced a program encouraging visitors by showcasing its sustainability, responsibility, and cultural sites in new and exciting ways.
