Review: Golden Jomtien Beach Hotel | Modern Rooms, Fun Pool

Jomtien Beach is a popular spot for foreign retirees and Bangkok residents looking for a weekend escape to relax. The Golden Jomtien Beach Hotel could be described as a no frills accommodation, but it does have what’s needed for a relaxing weekend or a family holiday.

The Golden Jomtien Beach Hotel is situated across the street from the beach, which is as close as you can get to a hotel on the beach. It’s also a short walk from the hotel to a variety of restaurants, cafes, and bars. The Golden Jomtien Beach Hotel a small hotel offering spacious air-conditioned rooms with a pool that makes you question if you even need to visit the beach.

Golden Jomtien Beach Hotel Rooms

There are 3 room types at the Golden Jomtien Beach Hotel. Wifi is free and accessible throughout the property, You’ll also find a TV with a variety of channels and a refrigerator.

Studio Room

During our stay, we were in a Studio Room with a King-sized bed. The room had plenty of space for both moving around and storage. There was even a long balcony where we could sit and enjoy the sunset or dry our beachwear. We were also pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the room and its modern décor. It was like we were staying in a newly built hotel.

Rates vary depending on the season, our stay was about 2000 Thai Baht per night.

Premium Suite

Premium Suites are similar to the Studio Rooms, but have a larger balcony with a lounger.

Thray Thong Suite/King Suite

The Thray Thong Suite, also sometimes listed as the King Suite on sites like Agoda; is the largest room available. Perhaps the best option for a large family. This room has a separated bedroom and living room with plenty of furniture for relaxing.

Food & Drink

The Golden Jomtien Beach hotel has a single restaurant with a limited menu of Thai and Western dishes. During our stay we ate some fried rice, Tom Yum Kung, and stir-fried seafood. We even felt adventurous and gave the Filet Mignon a try.

This same restaurant is where guests go for their complimentary breakfast, which is a buffet of Thai dishes, some sausages, sliced deli meat, along with a fruit and salad bar.

Overall, the food was good during our stay. Some of the food items were sold out, probably due to demand during the first post-pandemic lockdown Songkran, or Thai New Year holiday.

The Filet Mignon was what you might expect from a Thailand hotel whose primary customer base is Thai. It’s probably best to stick with the local cuisine.

Golden Jomtien Beach Hotel Amenities

The Golden Jomtien Beach Hotel doesn’t offer a lot for amenities, but it offers what’s needed for a weekend away from Bangkok or for those who don’t typically use the spa when staying at other hotels.

There’s a large swimming pool with a slide to keep both you and the kids busy. The beach is also just across the street, so you can be in the ocean within minutes.

The hotel also has a decently equipped Fitness Center on the 8th floor. Here you’’ find a few machines and free weights to meet your cardio and strength training needs.

For the smaller kids, there’s a playground under the slide next to an entertaining koi pond.

Lastly, for those who just want to stay in their room, the hotel does have room service.

Golden Jomtien Beach Hotel Summary

For our stay, the food was good enough, the swimming pool was fun, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was incredibly friendly and understanding at every interaction.
